Fireplaces and stone in Hockley Heath

Hockley Heath sits along the A3400, with a mix of village cottages, canal-side homes and newer family houses on the edges. Smaller period rooms suit a neatly proportioned surround that does not overwhelm the space, while the larger newer homes can take something bolder. Either way we make the fireplace to fit the room in front of us.

We are only a few minutes away, so Hockley Heath is genuinely local for us. It is an easy visit to see finished fireplaces and compare marble in daylight before you decide.

The usual Hockley Heath question is whether the room should keep a traditional fireplace shape or move towards a cleaner stove setting. A cottage or older room may need a smaller marble or limestone surround, while a larger family room can often carry a stronger hearth, chamber or mantel.

If the room has a working chimney breast, we would usually start with the opening, hearth line and fire route. That decides whether a gas fire, stove or made-to-measure surround is the sensible direction. If the room has a flatter wall, an electric fire or bioethanol route may be cleaner.

We do not currently have a Hockley Heath case study published, so we use nearby proof honestly. The Solihull marble surround project shows a surround and stove setting planned around an existing stove, while the Henley-in-Arden limestone project shows bespoke stonework made around the customer's own gas fires.

Because the showroom is so close, Hockley Heath customers can use the visit to compare the main routes side by side: marble fireplaces, gas fires, stoves, hearths and stone samples. Bring a couple of photos of the wall and rough dimensions, and we can narrow the options without guessing.

For stove projects, the surrounding stonework often matters as much as the stove body. A correctly proportioned hearth, chamber or beam can make the stove feel part of the room rather than simply placed in an opening.

The practical route is simple: start with photos and measurements, visit the showroom to compare finishes, then agree what needs checking before the workshop cuts the surround, hearth or chamber.
