Suite, media wall or marble surround?

A media wall is usually a built-out wall with a wider electric fire, often used with a television or storage. A made-to-measure marble surround is the strongest route when the fireplace itself is the main feature and you want the stone made to your room. A suite sits between the two: complete, cleaner to plan, and well suited to rooms that need a focal point without major building work.

The right answer depends on the wall, how you use the room and how much of a statement you want the fireplace to make. A lounge with a large bare wall may suit a suite or media wall. A snug or dining room may suit a smaller suite. A period room may still feel better with a proper marble surround and an inset fire.
